My last weekend

Although this break did not turn out like how I wanted it to, what with being unable to continue working at ALDO and what-not, I still enjoyed myself. I am most definitely one of those people who enjoys their own company. Not that I'm anti-social or anything, quite the opposite I can work with any and everybody; however, many people do not like being without the company of others. I understand it but that will never be me. In any case, this break turned out to be all about me and gathering myself for a semester that's sure to be challenging. This last weekend I spent at home, I was just with family and I went to see my Pommies perform. I'm so proud of my girls and how they competed. This weekend was so simple, relaxing, and just plain worry free. But as I sit here in my dorm now, after unpacking all of the ~foolish~ load I brought, I can feel this semester will be stressful yet fleeting. Before I know it I'll be back at home once again. Thank God this time I completely have my camera so y'all will be here with me every step of the way.

If You Stopped Smoking Dope!

Coincidentally, the title above had a significant role in the festivities of today. NO, don't get ahead of yourself, I am not involved in illegal substances as such and I can certainly say the same for Sade. Haha, maybe if I expand you'll get the grand picture. What feels like forever ago, but was in actuality just a few weeks ago, I was able to play catch-up with one of my favorite teachers from High School. If you remember the alumni day post, I briefly had a heart-to-heart and we agreed lunch one day would be glorious. After relaying everything to Sade she also agreed literally nothing would be more entertaining~ you'd have to know our French teacher to truly understand. After an eye-straining, carpal tunnel forming week of planning this thing it actually came together.

It was great for me *sade speaking* because I wasn't quite able to visit my former teachers over the break.

You may be wondering why I'm making such a big deal out of this ~so wut getting together for lunch? And? That's where knowing my teacher comes into play. Our French teacher is the most quirky, disoriented, funny, wild, strict, spatially-challenged woman on this planet. She's the type of woman to retell a story about a druggie student dying of laughter at "well, if you stopped smoking dope you'd know Tuesday comes after Monday!" part of the story claiming she could never say that. The type of woman to push you to the abilities you didn't even know you possessed, academically and simply in life. She's also the type of woman who has almost no spatial reasoning and is so unaware of her surroundings that she must memorize random things like a Taco Bell near a turn to be able to navigate or else she will get lost on her way home, like last week.

All this frothing at the mouth just to say for today to have come together as wonderfully as it did was a miracle. It was so fun to drive with her all the way to COLLI PARK (College Park for those of you out of a loop) to meet Sade for lunch. *I interrupt your regular reading to inform you Sade forced me into eating at a Vegan restaurant today people of the world. You guys know I love my Parmesan crusted chicken! I swear, only for this child.*
We talked about any and everything today and I think I can speak for both of us that we re-realized how wise this woman is. Truly special.

Last night was a fantastic night. First and foremost though I have some great news. Great enough for you to have orgasmic reactions in your pants, yeah that great... Oh wait this is extremely awkward because I just realized, literally as I am typing these words right now, that I've already announced my camera fixtures... Wow haaahahahaha I am dying of laughter. Look at that, I literally got so happy again, this time to announce it only to be put in this position. Moving on to a less awkward topic. So I went to dinner last night with my ride or die girlfriends. I love getting back into the groove of our friendship and discussions during high school, minus high school shit. It was such a funny night; we had this obnoxious waitress who just couldn't wait to get our arsenals out of there! Y'all know those moments you can't seem to explain correctly for others to grasp how funny it was? This is one of those. She just continued to give us this attitude and was like, "are you guys done?" It came to the point where while we were clearly still indulging in dessert she brought us our check... I hope she wasn't surprised to receive change for a tip.

Breakfast

My favorite meal. Breakfast has always been a favorite of mine since... I can't even remember, but I don't think anything will or can ever suffice in comparison. This morning, the earliest I've cracked my eyes open  and subsequently arisen from my bed all of break, I played catch up with my beautiful blond goddess. You should recognize this place because it's where we said our goodbyes before school started, minus one person and an adventure to Old Ellicott City. Today was just a magnificent day in that I got one of my New Year sale orders and, I GOT MY CAMERA BACK! Fixed. Good as new, bless my soul and the technicians who fixed my baby. But of course that wasn't until I got home; however, I still think the breakfast pictures came out quite lovely. Goes to show you breakfast really is the most important meal of the day!

Since I'm not working, I've brought the New Year in with laziness. I'm definitely one of those people who don't believe in trying to act brand new and improved just because it's a different year. I have goals for myself and my life of course, but it's not dependent on a new year approaching. But in any news, y'all are probably like, whooo took this picture cause we know you don't have a camera! Well assholes, I took the thing. Remember the camera I used once upon a time ago, a year ago actually, well yes since I'm home I retrieved it and it has now become my best friend once again. Don't mind the resolution, we're talking about 10 megapixels of glory.

Back to my laziness, the only day I found myself indulging in any activity was yesterday and this day above, Thursday. On Thursday I went to see some friends, embarking in the blizzard and almost getting snowed in. And yesterday I went to see that insignificant significant. Up to my usual shenanigans.

Two Thousand Fourteen

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever."
- Neil Gaiman

"You cannot reap what you haven't sowed."

(Both quotes obtained from Street Etiquette)

On the last day of December 2013 my grandfather passed, leaving our family distraught and in an immense amount of pain and confusion on what to do next. I was mindlessly browsing through my tumblr as I often to during these days of winter vacation, and a man I'd seen often caught my eye. I have yet to post inspo pictures as of late, but I've had them saved for a while and this guy is in quite a few of them. I didn't know of his blog so I quickly clicked on the link and got to oogling. The first quote was the one placed above and it just reminded me of my grandpa. Not that he'd said any of this, or not that I'd heard, but just because I felt like I knew that was how he rationalized life. My grandfather was the type of man who wasn't afraid of taking risks. He had goals for his life and he made sure he'd reach them no matter what or who was in his way. He was a God fearing man who made sure his family lived respectable lives in the image of God. He knew education was important, so important that he made sure to see his nieces, nephews, and even extended family who hated him and often stole from him, through school. He was humble, he was respected, he was a natural born leader who feared nothing, not even death. He lived a full life of 98 years and knew through all the years of his sickness, it was his time to go. He didn't want to make it through the new year so left his legacy on December 31st, 2013, two days after his birthday. With all of this being said, that doesn't mean we won't miss him like there's no tomorrow. However, I know he's in heaven watching over me and our family.
