I hope everybody had an amazing Resurrection Sunday. Mine was funny to say the least. Unfortunately I didn't come back to campus until this morning... 6 AM to be very specific. It wasn't fun. In any case, today was just an amazing day. I was walking in what's called North Plaza on campus only to find our activities committee was doing a contest to win free tickets for our Spring Concert. Now, I didn't want to pay to see Ludacris, not that I don't love him but he's off the scene right now and the only thing relevant are his features. You can't tell me his concert is just going to be features from other artists' songs, c'mon now. Anyway, after a while I decided I would go ahead and do the mini contest, my opponent ended up giving up so I got free floor seats worth $25. Too sweet. The rest of my day was just as swell.

Say somethin'

Today should have definitely been spent sleeping, no doubt. HOWEVER, I find myself still awake and tired to be specific but unable to now sleep due to practice being in a few minutes... I've been milling around not doing anything specific with my life because of my lack of class... I clearly need class.

You're irritating

Thrifted blazer, eBay tank dress, American Apparel socks
I've been saying this phrase a lot lately but especially today. I had one class so I went into the city to see my guy and basically spent my day watching him sleep due to his exhaustion from work. So irritating lol so, so irritating.

P.S.
If there was ever a time you doubted I belonged in Clueless, I hope your doubts have been cleared up. I swear I belong in Saved by the Bell also. I love that show.

Despite the emotional roller-coaster of last week, it was such a great week. I felt really happy so it was a happy time for me regardless. I even got a lot of work done... I think I finally forreal focused.

This past weekend, I went on a day-trip to New York with a few of my fellow herbivore friends (vegan/vegetarian). We're all part of an on-campus group and decided to head up to NY (a place known for awesome veg options) to try out some great food. SO yes, I can officially say that I have traveled for my food. A bit insane. Glutton? no. Shameless? hell yeah. Honestly, I thought of this trip as just a cheap option to hop on and visit a cool city. I really left a bit different. As a vegetarian for 5 years and still going, I could never see myself as a vegan. Originally, I decided to become a vegetarian because of the overwhelming products and chemicals used in farming and meat processing. It was nauseating to imagine myself putting in these harmful chemicals into my body. Nevertheless, when the question of veganism came up, I wondered why people would torture themselves to a rabbit myself with few luxuries like peanut butter. How ironic, right? I'm sure people would say the same about vegetarians. Anyways, as I write this blog post, I find myself leaning towards a vegan lifestyle. I'm testing out the waters a few days a week to see how it goes. If it something that I do once or twice a week (vegan mondays, etc), that will be just fine by me. Going to this trip opened my eyes not only in terms of dietary meals, but a lot more than I can rattle off in one post. I am learning more and more, how easy it is to cease the experiences and make the most out of them.

Until next time,

I can't even truly go into detail about last week. Just about everything in the world was due, events out of the wazoo, and a controllable amount of stress. But I looked pretty fabulous! So the pictures will be posted as I drag through this week. Updating this week shouldn't be a burden though because one of my afternoon classes has been cancelled so most times this week I only have a single class. God blessed me honestly because the amount of sleep I got last week is what I'd strongly consider to be a power nap.

Festival of Colors

Life is all about the new experiences, right?

Last week, I took the amazing opportunity to celebrate the Hindu holiday of Holi. For those who don't know, Holi is a holiday to celebrate a new season (Spring). The Holi festivities mark the beginning of new year to many Hindus, as well as a justification to reset and renew ruptured relationships, end conflicts from the past. Overall, it was a great time. I enjoyed experiencing something completely different. The one thing that I enjoy about this time in my life is the time of discovery and purpose. It's something that I keep looking forward to.

This week has been so slow and not particularly interesting, clothes wise therefore life wise ~ha forreal. Tonight should be interesting with the Kappa probate and our first ABC (African Student, Black Student, and Caribbean Student Association not Anything But Clothes) party. It's free so yeah everybody's going to be there. I was majorly chilling today, getting my bearings together and just feeling incredibly blessed and encouraged. I thank God for blessing me with so much grace and mercy because my life's been going well and I've been getting a lot of opportunities where people are recognizing my talent and potential and I haven't really done anything to deserve such treatment. He's really something man, I'll tell you that.

Surprise! If you don't follow me this post is probably going to hit you at left field but yes shordy has dreads now. Correction, faux locs but whatever, I'm clearly claiming to be a dreadhead... temporarily. I've always admired cleanly kept dreads and when I found out one could imitate the look, I'd been obsessed ever since. The process is definitely tiring and time consuming but after you're done you can't even remember the pain. I was just in an amazing mood today, practically wearing all of my bright clothing in one sitting, including my new suede babies and this gorgeous top from SoHo.
