2 inches too Short: Artscape 2016

Part two of my random adventure with a not-so-random counterpart began the morning of July something or another. I just know it was Sunday. The plans for the day weren't set, as they never truly are; we just figured at some point in time we would find ourselves at Artscape...probably.

Now, my fella is an amazing artist so I was really pushing for this festival lol, I dunno I just wanted him to have fun being all fartsy and artsy, enjoying other people's work. As I got dressed to wear this getup I'd envisioned and packed a few times but never actually put on, I felt a weird feeling of walking into a church with a mini on. I absolutely was not having it with the 2 inches too much off the rim and my breasts actually looked like they were a bloating day away from falling out of the dungaree. It was a little self-conscious action going on, cause mind you I don't wear clothes or things perceived as "weird" or "too much" for attention; and I felt this was attention! Then as I closed the hotel door behind me I remembered exactly why I'd chose less is less..to scorch in. We set off late morning to find a good vegan breakfast joint but vegan places already are not particularly in abundance. So a strictly breakfast place was asking for a liiiittle much.

Of course I then remember we are in my hometown and I do absolutely adore Eggspectations (see a post hell of a while ago, seriously like you may as well archive it cause it aint clicks away, about my first experience there...and subsequently every experience thereafter) and yes I am fully aware it is not vegan but I was also aware it was exactly what I wanted. Long story short, we ordered mine ahead and were gunna eat at the eggless spot...then lost our gusto, aka got lazy, and veggie burgered and dined.

Honestly, we may have just been waiting it out a bit because we were too scared to enter the abyss, the heatwave that was the outdoors. I might be exaggerating but it was just too damn hot already. Remember when I sweat out my brand new top? Well today there was no top and I was not planning on sweating out my skin. Parking took some time to find but we were blessed with miracles because it wasn't awful. It was ablazing as we neared one of the entrances but we literally landed in the lap of a sis making the most amazing fresh fruit juices. They were amaaaazing, completely life-changing.

The Artscape scene was pretty cool, I'm sure there were a lot more happenings earlier in the weekend, but it was still rowdy and definitely overcrowded. We witnessed a grandfather seductress with a wine better than Cardi B, bought drinks for 2 quarters, seriously I couldn't believe it either it was like the fucking '60s, and had our fair share of laughs at a nipple bearing hipster boy with malfunctioning odor. What fucking sucked was how they bunched the vendors together in the hottest part of the venue, where absolutely no one ventured, and that was that with their vendor deposit. Good thing I didn't force Leem enough to vend because I would've never heard the end of that. As we were rounding things up I delved into some homemade toffee ice-cream, cue drool, and all my savoring was not missed on his camera roll. I was actually forced, imagine that, to pose by my now personal photographer. Good shots is the understatement of the year.

Did you Artscape? (like how I verbed that. I know you do, it's fine.)

Up my Butt, Around the Corner

What jobs have y'all found yourselves working? Well at my current summer situation, I clocked out at 12 AM after a shift I was ready to jump out a window from and pondered what I would do with my life for the next two-three hours. What was to come at the end of those hours? Well...

Boohoo top, eBay handmade skirt, eBay sandals, thrifted bag

see my other, some would argue better, half was supposed to arrive on campus by then and we would begin our crazy weekend adventure..by going to bed. Trust me, after my week, this was enough action I needed m'kay.

So as these crazy days go, I of course had to push studying to those hours afloat in the air. Why? You guessed it (see crazy shift above). My third dosage of Econ has been a much more enjoyable experience than previous times but it still isn't the most pleasurable class to endure. Not to mention packing was supposed to be filling these hours but as I did a quick sweep of my room while pulling out my notes, that wasn't going to magically happen either. In fact, as it neared 2AM...3AM it pretty much struck me in the face I was having a total teenage-girl-about-to-go-on-a-first-date-slash-omg-i'm-going-to-junior-prom-moment moment: I didn't know what the fuck I was going to wear.

As you can see, I did figure something out, something I absolutely love by the way. I had done damage control on my situation, lolz, and chose the route I hardly ever ever travel. I wore an item I'd literally gotten a few days before. As, "you're doing too much" as it sounds, I like to work new stuff into my closet and not suddenly wear them all at once like an over-eager elementary student's first three days of the school year. I am not these kids people.

So I chose to wear this off the shoulder top and pair it with a past eBay find I still adore to this day, simply because I remembered I had it and with quick closet glances whilst studying, I caught light of the inner orange and knew it was a match made in heaven. Now there was another sparkling match, but I'll save that for another time. It was hard deciding if I wanted to wear this out to DC or to the festival we were attending the next day...because I mean how festival is this getup? Seriously. Unfortunately I did decide since the following day was to be a scorching one, I'd wear it as we meandered the nation's capital, catching too-good-to-be-true arcade deals, devouring our coveted black-owned vegan spot, finally getting a natural deodorant (this is important people) along with herbs to hopefully naturally ease my headaches (also black-owned), almost sticking laxative juice up my butt (apparently your stomach automatically eases itself once knowing this is about to occur as well)...and yes I did sweat the top out during all of the above. But incidentally not when we heard gun shots immediately following closing our hotel door...

Wild time doesn't even begin to describe it.

What's a Fourth?

Ever taken pictures in some obscure place it doesn't even look like your city? Like, tell me this isn't in CA or a cool spot in Toronto or something alike. Ever had a photographer that was also bae so he just simply knows what works and because he's artsy-fartsy he not only knows your face well but also has an eye for location?

I realize not everyone has such blessings. Lol how bitchy am I being right now, seriously on a scale of 1-10...
There's this awesome vegan spot on Georgia Avenue I scoped out through my online rummaging and let me tell you it is nothing like I would have imagined it to be. The options were. endless. Actually endless, I was extremely overwhelmed. Cold sides, hot sides, vegan macaroni and cheese, vegan fried chicken sandwiches, hell vegan waffles if we'd made it in on time. All in all what I learned from the place: always order the cornbread and student discounts are always amazing.

Apparently our adventure was the same day as the Afican American festival in Baltimore. I'd never been nor never heard of it til a random experience on the radio but I was very interested because I knew this guy would adore it. Joking about how stereotypical I would look if we did end up going reminded me of the upcoming 'holiday' Americans truly love for no apparent reason. Well, okay, white Americans is understandable but I don't see why Black Americans are so head over heels. As I reminisced on my childhood and upbringing, I realized I have never celebrated this so called independence day. My mother did attempt to do something alike to a cookout when I was damn near a graduate of high school but it was very half-assed and more so "I guess ask people and see who wants to come over?" rather than hey, let's deck out in this American flag joke and pretend we're one or something. So with that, I hope you all had a pleasant day lol. A fourth means absolutely nothing to me.. oh, I didn't have class! That was a good catch right???

Have you ever visited a proclaimed psychic? How'd that go exactly

NY State of Mind

2:43 AM Sade 1 Comments

While I'm based in Jersey for the summer, I figured it was a good weekend to get away and go to the city for a quick break! As often as I've been in the city, I get so tired incredibly easy! It's always good to make loose plans and then adjust accordingly. I visited the top of the Rockefeller center and I didn't regret it! I went with my best friend of 6+ years while he was visiting me from Boston.

We stopped at lunch @ Wine Bar 7, Old Fulton. Quite expensive but a great meal!

Cheers,
Sade

Have you ever went to a drive-in movie? Okay, well have you ever went to an outdoor movie? I would like to think I come up with pretty unique ideas and that is one idea I do wish I had coined. When I caught word that there were DC outdoor films starting last summer I knew where I was going to be. But with the history of outdoor movies, you can't just take any ol'body. This summer I finally made it; aside from the difficulty in hearing and the other watchers taking a free movie for granted, it was such a different experience.

Who came up with this idea anyway? I must know.
