What would have been the beginning of this post began rather oddly. Immediately following my trip to DE I began experiencing some intense back pain then before I knew it, I broke down with an intense fever and infection. It was awful to say the least, even worse than the last time I came down with a fever. You would hardly guess from these moments that I was just barely simmering, literally, now would ya?

My bugaboo and I went on a random hunt in the one and only capital..for no particular reason. At all. We actually began by searching "idk" in google and it took us to a location in DC actually called AKA... just freaking nonsense but it lead us to an awesome time. We landed in D.C.'s newest hipster haven as of last summer, Renwick if you're absolutely late, and did what absolutely everyone does in Renwick.

Except for us the experience is always different. We were loud and outgoing, confident as hell. Leaving the ol gallery with a bit more flavor and astonished little white children. Our next big decision was whether we should get pizza from our favorite pizza shop first or head over to the portrait gallery. If you don't know, our last portrait gallery experience included running around, similar to headless chickens if you need a visual, trying to see all we could as the security guards were attempting to kick us out due to "the museum closing". Ridiculous, I know.

We finally decided to walk to the gallery since we weren't starving yet, come back and walk to our pizza. Mind you this was all also very dependent on our parking meter, as we hadn't spent too long in Renwick and didn't want to find a new spot downtown because if you know D.C. you know what I mean. We begin our adventure entertaining some street performers nearly, and ironically rather, right in front of the White House.. as we moved further we realized our horrid mistake. It felt like the hottest, most humid day in the world. And here we were just walking like nobody's business to a building about 20 minutes away by feet. Getting there wasn't even the feat, after enjoying the glorious air conditioned air, walking back was actually the hard part. We sweat our skins off all the way back to the car only to discover there was a pizza shop not too far from the gallery. Fantastic.

The day was still absolutely amazing and I just had a lot of joy, now of course this could either be from recovery or exploring with this kid, but who's to tell.

6 PM in Philly

This past weekend was pretty magical to say the least *yes cue the sparkles and fairy dust and shit*. Because I'm oh so artsy fartsy, I went to my baebae's, y'all may know him as yesterdaynite, exhibit in Philly as he presented himself, Alim Smith Afro Surrealist. Lol, for some reason that sounds so hefty coming out like okay, go ahead with your title.

From train rides, to bus rides, I finally arrived in the first state and after a long night of talking, me struggling to pre-do my hair, him staying up the entire night finishing his beauties, I finally did catch a few hours of Z's. The following day though...y'know, if any of y'all have any artist friends or beaus you understand. Hectic is not the word. Emotions flying all over, paint in hair, attitudes up asses, and anything else in between. It was pretty chaotic. But we finally made it to the show, created some amazing feng shui, got the wine to pouring, and everybody absolutely loved it.

If your home happens to be in Delaware or you find yourself on the other side of Philly, get a dose of their parks. It's like a mix of bridal pictures heaven and vast peaceful serenity feels. Some amazing smoothies, chasing away dogs, bush peeing, chickun tacos, and secret parks later, we were spit-balling creativity under the stars and above the concrete. A lot of weirdness preceded, even by our historical encounters with strange auras.. I can't exactly explain it now but when I can put it into real terms maybe the world will have to know..

P.S. have you ever had supernatural type experiences but didn't know who to jest about it with?

Jamaican Me Crazy

So among a list of things we had planned to do this past semester, going to this Jamaican eatery we (Sade) found was definitely one of them. In fact, I think we planned this about a year ago now... very telling of our lives. As the semester finally came to an end and we're about to go our separate ways for the summer, it was only right we do one last hoorah before our next encounter probably 2+ months from now. We finally made it to Negril, world.

To give you a little back story, it was nearly sweltering hot, Lola is coming all the way from forestry Virginia, Sade is moving mountains from a county in Maryland you may very well have never heard of...it's practically a mission honestly. We both planned to meet at the same time but of course that never happens. Lo actually lands in the vicinity first, also never happens, and the walk to Negril itself is enough to make you want to make an 180 back to air conditioned safety and go home. I may be exaggerating..or not because it really was melt your skin hot lol. In any case, we both did eventually make it to the Mom and Pop style diner which really brought us back to the vibes of home. They really got the tropical feel down right, effortless and lazy, truth be told. Negril is highly recommended for the authentic, melt-in-your-mouth, Carib flare. The prices are decent and the food is fresh. We both enjoyed our meals of cocoa bread and veggie patties, as well as Chicken curry and rice&peas.

We played our usual game of catch up because oddly enough, even though it is a bit odd to imagine, but we haven't seen each other in some months and definitely haven't sat down and really talked face-to-face in even longer (we would've seen each other at Broccoli Fest as planned, but timing conflicts really have a way of messing up shit). But of course we always pick up where we left off, as if never interrupted-- An aspect of our relationship that is always cherished. This time around the major topics of the day were our love lives, spiked Dominican blow outs, abusive relationships, and our Summer '16 hair schedules *cue Drake*

Before we re-entered the station the scenery was just too tempting to pass us by. Hope you enjoy these flicks as much as we did. Sade back at it again with the spot on photography!

Re-up

You all may be wondering where I went; I know, I know I was doing such a good and consistent job then I fell off the moon again! Well actually, what happened was I began putting together an awesome lookbook video and I didn't want to post the pictures first so first it started off as that, then it quickly ran into finals and here we are in the summer. But don't fret, not much has happened at all lol. Well I reached some goals, got some achievements, failed terribly at some things...basically my normal cycle of great news being snatched from my hands and replaced with mediocre news.

Honestly, yeah these past few weeks were just a great mix of ups and downs and by great I mean a variance. It's kind of awkward and weird to imagine my third year of college is down already. I almost want to ask myself what I'm doing with my life even though I can clearly see what. But that big "what's next?" is right around the corner and I've always known but now that it's so close, my positivity almost seems naive for some strange reason. But that's a conversation for another moment. All in all, welcome summer 16, the summer that's supposed to be good to me. I'll be recapping major events that happened post break, but until then..
